After I grew up in a small old farm town in Holland, I moved to Amsterdam (where you can wear anything as long as it holds on a bike!), studied Art History, and became involved in theatre. After I got my Master's Degree I moved to Los Angeles.
For years I'd been adjusting my clothes for a better fit. Eventually I started making stuff here and there, since I couldn't find what I longed for to wear in stores.
I increasingly liked the use of leather; beautiful and durable, and it drapes quite easily and perfectly around the human body-just as it had been 'hugging' the cow during its life. Over the last years I noticed that cutting of the natural edges of the hides gave a strange disconnection. So I started using the whole hide more and more; the edges, the imperfections, the scraps that used to end up on the floor. Straight cuts became the new leftovers, that I nowadays use for practical items like pouches and bags. I now absolutely love the raw quality of all of the hide...and it gives me an awareness of and an appreciation for the animal it comes from.
Hope you enjoy my stuff as much as I do!
